Gatherings

GATHER WITH A GOSPEL-CENTERED COMMUNITY

We gather on Sundays to grow together in the gospel through prayer, praise and the preaching of God's word. After Sunday, we gather in homes to become better equipped to live out the gospel in every aspect of our lives.

SUNDAY GATHERINGS

WELCOME TO
OUR WAREHOUSE

Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God (Romans 15:7).

If you're new to Substance, come on out and make yourself at home! Our renovated warehouse in the heart of downtown Ashland has been designed to be a casual but creative space that reflects our love for God, people and the gospel.

WORSHIP WITH US

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers (Acts 2:42).

Join us on Sundays at 10am as we gather together before the Lord in prayer, praise and preaching. We provide discipleship and care every Sunday for kids in kindergarten and under. Children grades 1st-4th worship with us in our main gathering before they're released for their own time of discipleship every week except for the last Sunday of the month (Family Sunday).

FOOD & FELLOWSHIP

And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people
(Acts 2:46-47)
.

We not only value worship, but we love food and fellowship, too! At the conclusion of our Sunday gathering, we like to hang out in our cafe to enjoy brunch and some good pour-over coffee, while meeting new people and catching up with old friends.

PATHWAYS

All of our Pathway Ministries at Substance exist for the purpose of making disciple-makers.

We desire to replicate the method and model that Jesus used in making disciples. Jesus was relational, intentional, and reproducible in his method and model. Pathways are groups designed to help us establish our identity in Jesus, grow in our love for him and equip us to live a disciple-making lifestyle in every area of our lives through a missional community.

WHAT IS A DISCIPLE-MAKER?

A disciple-maker is someone who has been transformed by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live out the passions and priorities of Jesus

WHAT ARE THE PASSIONS OF JESUS?

A Great commandment love.

Mark 12:29-31 "Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

WHAT ARE THE PRIORITIES OF JESUS?

A great commission lifestyle.

Matthew 28:16-20 "Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
